Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture

Results-driven traditional Chinese acupuncture for recovery and pain relief.

Supporting you through traditional Chinese medicine

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture (TCM) is a style of acupuncture that is suited to many health needs, especially for recovery and pain.

Points are chosen to reduce swelling, bruising, and inflammation. Promote blood flow, relax spasms, stimulate lymphatic function and immune response, and encourage the production of endogenous healing mediators in the tissue while suppressing pain signals.

We see many conditions in the clinic including trigger and motor point pain patterns, tenosynovitis, tendinopathy, contusion, muscle tears, hematoma, edema, arthritic conditions, bruising, disk impingement, paresthesia, sprain, strain, bursitis, tendonitis referred pain and scar regeneration.

What is TCM Style Acupuncture?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture works to support diverse health conditions.

Chinese Medicine views the body with a “wellness” approach, finding areas of less than optimal function,in people’s bodies and lifestyles, TCM treatment promotes health in these areas to resolve issues people come in with.

A Chinese Medicine diagnosis is made from the “8 principals theory” and the “Meridian theory” To make this diagnosis many questions are asked on the first visit. The practitioner will also asses some key indicators of your body to get information on where wellness is potentially lacking to support the issue you would like to address.

The “8 principal” assessment to investigate:

  • Is the disease making the body “hot” or “cold”?
  • Is it on the “inside” or “outside” layers of the body?
  • Is there a “deficiency” of vital energy or an “excess” pent-up energy in the meridians or organs?
  • Is the disease of a “yin” nature or a “Yang” nature?

To assess the Meridian systems questions are asked of the:

  • Digestion
  • Sleep
  • Diet/appetite
  • Mood and mental health
  • Lifestyle
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Skin conditions
  • Pain
  • Health of the sensory organs (vision, hearing, smelling, tasting)
  • Reproductive health and women’s health
  • Genitourinary conditions (urination etc.)
  • Medications and conditions diagnosed by your GP

How can acupuncture help?

Acupuncture stimulates the secretion of natural healing proteins and immune factors within the body to encourage fast repair of injured tissue. It improves blood flow, reduces nerve activation to control pain, and prevents ongoing inflammation and swelling to enhance fast recovery.

Acupuncture also promotes the production of endorphins to help control the pain experience and create a deep sense of relaxation during and after treatment.

"11/10 would recommend. I went to see Elly for an issue with my knee and not only has she helped immensely with that but she has really helped me out in other aspects as well. You can really feel that she cares about her clients and the work she is doing which i believe makes such a difference in the treatment itself. I always leave feeling great and my knee has gotten so much better."
