About Us

We believe in your whole mind and body health.

We love traditional medicines.

We remain curious.

We are on leave.
Be back soon!

We are very excited that as of November 2024 we took some maternity leave!

The plan was to be back in clinic by the end of 2025, however we know good things take time, and sometimes more time than expected!

Join the mailing list to keep posted for our return. Stay healthy and well and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Meet our acupuncturist

Eleanor Collins

BHSc (Acupuncture)

I’m Eleanor, founder and sole acupuncturist at The House of Acupuncture, a practice I created after returning home to Christchurch from Australia in 2020.

After several years working in a beautiful clinic on St Asaph Street, Christchurch, I stepped into a new chapter at the end of 2024 with the arrival of my first child (and quite possibly only — whew, what a job!).

I’ve always enjoyed working with people from all walks of life. What I love most about this work is creating space for people to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves. Often, people already hold valuable insight into what they need — my role is to listen carefully, help uncover the patterns beneath the symptoms, and draw from the Chinese medicine toolkit to support their health journey.

Chinese medicine carries thousands of years of observation, clinical experience, and practical wisdom. I enjoy sharing this knowledge with people in a way that feels relevant to modern life — helping translate traditional principles into meaningful wellness practices and rituals that can be embodied beyond the treatment room.

My journey into Chinese medicine began in my hometown of Christchurch, where I graduated from a Traditional Chinese Medicine college in 2012. Following the earthquakes, the college ceased operating, and my path took me to Victoria, Australia, where I became registered to practice and spent around eight years providing both private and health-insurance-funded acupuncture treatments.

During my time in Australia, I ran a small multi-bed clinic, facilitated group acupuncture and meditation classes with colleagues, and continued developing my approach to combining traditional medicine with practical, everyday health support.

Eventually, I realised that homesickness had only one treatment — coming home. I returned to Christchurch and established my private practice, alongside creating Yin & Pin classes that combined acupuncture, meditation, and restorative practices.

Now based in Kaiapoi with my family, I am currently working on some fresh new “punk wellness” and herbal health spa concepts, exploring new ways to bring traditional medicine, herbal therapies, and immersive wellness experiences to Christchurch and North Canterbury. I’m particularly interested in creating a fresh take on wellness — something a little less polished, more grounded and connected to the beautiful Chinese medicine traditions.

Watch this space, wonderful things will be happening.
