What does the research say?

In this recent 2024 updated systematic review and meta-analysis by Menghao Xu et al. the effects of acupuncture on IVF and embryo transfer outcomes were studied.

After assessing twenty-five trials (a total of 4757 participants) they found that acupuncture can significantly improve clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rates among women undergoing IVF.

In addition, this study in the Journal of Integrative Medicine used a cohort design based on different propensity score methods. It found an association between acupuncture during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation and increased live birth rates, of which they concluded acupuncture was a valuable option.
