Natural Fertility Support

Acupuncture may assist many women as they work naturally with their cycles to become pregnant. All health aspects of the women’s body are assessed and supported under the holistic lens of Chinese medicine.

Fertility support acupuncture may help:

  • Improve egg quality
  • Improve blood flow to the ovarian artery’s and uterus
  • Assist in nutrient delivery and oxygen availability to the eggs
  • Increase in nourishing blood driven to the follicles (mature eggs)

Recent research shows that patients whom receive acupuncture produce more mature eggs than patients with placebo acupuncture.

Women need special support to navigate the potentially difficult highs and lows felt emotionally and physically while undertaking IVF treatment. Some ways acupuncture can support women on the fertility journey include:
  • Positively impacting insulin resistance
  • Optimising blood sugar metabolism
  • Increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs
  • Supporting medication delivery to the follicles and uterine lining
  • Promote calming endorphins to reduce the negative impacts stress
Acupuncture can assist in with some of the uncomfortable side effects of fertility medications and bring balance to the large hormonal shifts associated with the process.

Pre-Labour Support

Starting from 34 weeks gestation, pre-labour acupuncture can help:

  • The body transition in preparation for labour
  • Reduces anxiety around labour
  • Supports sleep
  • Promotes softening of the cervix

Findings suggest that women who receive pre-labour treatment have reduced labor times and labour efficiency is improved.

Birth Induction Support

Ideally starting the week of the due date, it is best used as a continuation of pre-labour acupuncture to help with:

  • Increasing blood flow to the uterus
  • Relaxing the pelvic ligaments
  • Reducing pain during labour

Induction support treatments are thought to support the hormone production needed to start labour.
