What Happens in an Acupuncture Treatment?

Firstly you will need to read an informed consent form to get an idea of the risks associated with acupuncture. Then a diagnostic questioning session is held, which is a relaxed and informative experience. After this, your acupuncturist will start to determine some of the main issues needing attention.

A discussion of the treatment intended is had during which we will show you what acupuncture needles are like and carefully explain how it will feel and what will happen step by step, so you are comfortable during the whole treatment.

Once you have confirmed you are happy for us to go ahead we will fix the acupuncture needles comfortably into position and you may be left to relax and enjoy the treatment.

You may be left for a time frame of between 10 to 30 minutes. If you feel nervous we will provide you with a buzzer so you can call us at any time, or we are happy to be present in the room with you if you would like extra support or company.

There will be an open discussion to formulate an achievable treatment plan. This will include specific treatments tailored to your needs (taken in the acupuncture room) and advice given for things to be addressed in your lifestyle and dietary habits at home.

We may also recommend other support systems, health professionals, or services that can be brought into your life for a gentle, natural return to health. After answering any other questions you may have, we will then look at rescheduling a visit to continue your treatment plan.
